FARM

Our farmhouse is born at the end of the XIX century in Castiglione Tinella, in the Langhe protected by Unesco as heritage of humanity. I represent the fourth generation of a family of vine growers and I started the vinification with the harvest 2014. Our business is very small: 3,5 hectares on top of one of the oldest hills of the village, described by Cesare Pavese in “The moon and the bonfires”. The exposition of the Vigna Manzotti, where our Moscati come from, is south/south-east, it has a 40% slope. All the works are handmade and we don’t use chemical weeding. For this reason, this kind of agriculture is called “heroic agriculture”: these vineyards require about three times the work of the other vineyards. Today, we are the only winery in Castiglione Tinella using the term Vigna on the wine label and among the few in the entire area of production, counting 51 districts. The term Vigna is the equivalent of the cru and the appellation in France. We produce the Moscato d’Asti docg; the esCAMOtage, our white, still, dry wine obtained from Moscato bianco di Canelli grape and part of the association Aroma di un Territorio; the Nizza docg – highest expression of Barbera grape – refined in wood and the Barbera d’Asti, refined in stainless steel. We also make the Grappa di Moscato Riserva. We have a total production of 4500 bottles. In addition to the activity of viticulture, we have a holiday farm with two rooms and an agri-camping with pool and other services. We make visits, under reservation, to let you discover our job and taste our wines and the products coming from our allotment. In fact, we have realized a new touristic offer: you can come visit us, see the allotment and the vineyards and see first-hand the production of our products. You can also visit the crutin (the old cellar now became agricultural museum). After the tasting of our products you can buy them and take them home with you or cook them in your van or in the farm, where you’ll find tables and chairs.
